Folklore Contracting is a silviculture services company based in Prince George. Our main focus is tree planting and reforestation, although we do offer several other types of silviculture services, including brushing, thinning/spacing, surveys, pile burning, and more.

Folklore was founded in 1975 by Bruce Hawkenson. Bruce worked as an owner/operator for approximately two decades, then passed control of the company over to his son (Kurt) and daughter-in-law (Deanna) who ran the company for the next few decades. Now, the company is owned by Jim Logan, Greg Mancuso, and Jordan Todd.

Folklore operates throughout western Canada, although the majority of their tree planting work is in British Columbia and Alberta. With a total of six camps and approximately three hundred employees at the peak of the planting season, Folklore is a large scale professional organization that plants tens of millions of trees per year, and has the capacity to take on very large projects of millions of trees. At present, we have a large number of regular long-term clients who provide the majority of our volume each year, and we do a small amount of publicly-funded government also.

Our first priority is safety, and the health of our people. We consider our people to be our most important asset. In addition, we have a fleet of more than 80 vehicles, enough equipment to outfit six camps with backup equipment, mobile kitchens, mobile showers, and more. Folklore Contracting is able to compete large projects professionally and on-time, and looks forward to the upcoming planting season.
