Our Team

Jim Logan - Principal Owner, Area Coordinator

After graduating with a BA in Political Science from Dalhousie University, Jim entered the tree planting business in 1980 with Tawa Enterprises, where he was a planter, foreman and supervisor. In the early 1990's, Jim supervised tree planting contracts for PRT, after their purchase of Tawa. In the fall of 1994, PRT elected to exit the tree planting business and Jim migrated to Folklore Contracting. Jim has been an integral part of operations since then, and became a part owner in 2015.

Greg Mancuso - Owner, Area Coordinator

Greg graduated from the Forest Technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (Edmonton) and has been with Folklore since 1999, when he first started working as a seasonal planter. He has worked his way up the Folklore ladder, having experienced roles as crew leader, camp manager, and area coordinator.

Jordan Todd - Owner, Area Coordinator

Jordan started planting for Folklore in 2004. After several years working as a planter and then as a crew leader, he began supervising crews as a full camp manager. At the present, he works as a project coordinator. Over the years, planting has cultivated in him a deepened appreciation for friends, hard work, and fine pipe tobacco. During the off season, Jordan works on logistics & planning, which helps ensure that the next season's contracts run smoothly.

Kelly Leary - Project Coordinator

Kelly started her career in forestry as a tree planter in 2014. Most of her experience was gained at Spectrum, where she went on to become a crew leader, then a camp supervisor, and finally a project manager. Throughout the years, she has also been involved in other forestry related jobs such as slash pile burning, herbicide, and mountain pine beetle surveys.

Henry Lali - Stand-Tending Manager

Henry comes to us with three decades of experience in brushing, spacing, weeding, danger tree assessing and falling. He first worked with us from 1995 until 2008, and is now helping to expand our offerings to clients. He has run brushing and spacing camps & crews ranging from six to forty-six 46 cutters. Henry insists on following proper forest practice regulations, focusing on achieving client outcomes, and has a work ethic that is difficult to match. Henry is an excellent trainer, and thrives on mentoring new workers on his crews. If you're new to the work, have a solid work ethic, and get trained by Henry, you will succeed. In his spare time, Henry enjoys spending time on the soccer pitch.

Carson Clegg - Logistics Manager

Carson spent three years as a planter and three years as a foreman before assuming the role of supervising multiple crews as a full camp manager. He also has experience planting in the United Kingdom. Carson has studied three years of forestry at UBC, on his way to his eventual goal of obtaining an RPF designation, and when he's not tied up with university, he spends time working as a ski patroller. Carson values hard work, safety, and inclusive communities in his camps, and he also appreciates good single malts and the friendships that come with them.

Todd Ferguson - Camp Manager

Todd began planting for Silvaram in 1993. After several years of planting, he pursued other career goals for some time, but then resumed his planting career as a payplotter with Folklore starting in 2007. Todd has spent a significant part of the last decade supervising crews as a camp manager. Todd also has a strong educational background, with a degree in finance from the John Molson School of Business, which is part of Concordia University in Montreal.

Jonathan "Scooter" Clark - Camp Manager

Jonathan started planting in 1990, and spent the next four years as a crew leader and/or camp supervisor with Tawa Enterprises and PRT. Since joining the Folklore team in 1995, Scooter has spent most of his career as a camp manager and doing project assessments. Scooter's educational background is diverse, with an undergrad at Mount Allison University, an MBA, and two masters programs in music from Berklee. In the off-season, Scooter is involved in the music industry, as a DJ/music producer (indie/folk/techno). Scooter is also the administrator of the popular Replant.ca reforestation website.

Jeremiah Scott - Camp Manager

Jeremiah started work with Folklore more than a decade ago. He worked in management for eight years as a crew foreman before taking a position as a full-time camp manager. When he isn't in the bush, he splits his time working as a carpenter in Saskatoon and taking time to travel around the world. Before planting, Jeremiah studied at the University of Saskatchewan.

Tony van Manen - Camp Manager

Tony started his planting career with Folklore in 2012 as a planter. After 3 years of planting and 5 years as a crew leader, he has taken a position supervising crews as a full camp manager. Between summers, Tony has completed a degree in chemistry with a minor in nuclear science at Simon Fraser University, and is currently finishing his diploma in environmental planning at Selkirk. He enjoys skiing, rock climbing, spending time with friends, and quality beers.

Tim Dottridge - Camp Manager

Tim started planting in the summer of 2012. He spent 3 summers as a planter and 8 years running crews before moving into camp supervision. Tim has a B.A. in Psychology from UBCO, and is currently working towards his CPHR designation at Bow Valley College. In the offseason he can be found competing in squash leagues and tournaments, or frequenting the local karaoke bar. He values safety, hard work, inclusivity, positivity, and kindness in his camp, and tries to fill his summers with music, laughter, and lots of high fives.

Laura Pelletier - Camp Manager

In 2008, Laura migrated westward from her homeland of Quebec to do her first season as a tree planter, and soon began to call BC home. After four years of planting she spent eight years leading a crew. In 2020, she stepped into a role as a camp supervisor, and has been managing camps ever since. Laura values hard work, and works to create respectful environments for everyone in her camps. Outside of the tree planting season, she can be found doing other silviculture work, including pile burning, surveying and beetle probing surveys in Alberta. When Laura isn't busy with work, you can find her next to her fireplace, knitting up a storm!

Irmgard King - Office Manager, Payroll, Accounting

Irmgard joined Folklore's front office prior to the 2002 season. She immediately became an invaluable liaison with the supervisors, foremen, cooks, and other field management staff. Irmgard manages the accounting and the payroll department, and also oversees accounts payable and receivable.

Renata Grunerud - Office Coordinator, Fleet, Compliance

Renata started part-time with Folklore in 2009, then into a fulltime position in 2012. Renata is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the office, where she coordinates employee training, oversees our large fleet of vehicles, and oversees injury management & compliance.

Graham West - Shop Manager

Graham came to Folklore in 2009 with an impressive list of experience. Graham is great at coordinating the camps and the massive amounts of equipment. Graham has his Class I with air brakes licence, and is frequently involved in moving each of the camps around during the busy planting season.

In addition to all of the above, Folklore employs several hundred seasonal workers, many of whom come back year after year for many seasons of tree planting and other silvicultural activities. Many of these regular employees occupy mid-level management roles either as crew leaders or overseeing quality assessments.
